Cookie policy
This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies the WALVIS website uses, why, for how long, and how you can change your choice at any time.
1. Who is responsible?
The website is operated by:
- Legal entity: WALVIS SA
- Legal form: Swiss public limited company (SA)
- Registered address: Rue des Remparts 10, 1950 Sion, Switzerland
- UID/IDE number: CHE-437.379.397 (Commercial Register of the Canton of Valais)
- Data protection contact: dpo@walvis.ch
WALVIS is a strategy-to-execution consulting firm based in French-speaking Switzerland, serving clients in Switzerland, France, Europe and the US.
2. In short
- We use very few trackers.
- No audience measurement or analytics cookie is set without your consent.
- We do not use any advertising cookies.
- Your choice is never pre-selected and can be changed at any time.
3. What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small file stored on your device when you visit a website. We also refer to "similar technologies", such as the browser's local storage (localStorage), which keeps information on your device. This policy covers both.
4. List of cookies and storage used
4.1 Strictly necessary (no consent required)
walvis_consent
- Type: browser local storage (localStorage)
- Set by: WALVIS (first party)
- Purpose: remember your cookie choice (accepted or declined), with the date of the choice
- Duration: 6 months, after which you are asked again
- Personal data: none that could identify you
Admin session cookie
- Type: session cookie
- Set by: WALVIS (first party)
- Purpose: secure access to the administration area (CRM). It is set only on the /crm path and concerns only authorized members of the WALVIS team. Website visitors do not receive it.
- Duration: limited to the administration session
- Basis: strictly necessary for the operation and security of the service
4.2 Audience measurement with Google Analytics 4 (only if you accept)
_ga
- Type: cookie
- Set by: Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC
- Purpose: statistically distinguish visitors in order to measure site traffic
- Duration: up to 13 months
ga
- Type: cookie (the suffix corresponds to the measurement stream identifier)
- Set by: Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC
- Purpose: keep session state for audience measurement
- Duration: up to 13 months
How it works:
- Google Analytics 4 is configured with Consent Mode v2, with consent denied by default.
- Until you accept, no Google Analytics cookie is set and no personal data is sent to Google.
- Your IP address is not used to identify you.
- Any transfers outside Switzerland and the EU rely on adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses.
4.3 The platform's cookieless audience measurement
The hosting platform provides its own cookieless audience measurement, limited to the country level. It sets no tracker on your device and does not allow you to be identified.
5. What we do not use
- No advertising cookies and no commercial profiling.
- No social network tracking pixels.
- No third-party cookies other than the Google Analytics 4 cookies described above, and only with your consent.
6. How to change your choice
You can accept, decline or change your mind at any time:
- Click the "Gérer les cookies" link in the footer of every page of the website.
- Change your choice in the window that opens.
- Confirm. Your new choice replaces the previous one.
Withdrawing your consent is as easy as giving it. If you withdraw, Google Analytics measurement is disabled. You can also delete the _ga and _ga_<id> cookies from your browser settings.
You can also configure your browser to block or delete cookies and clear local storage. Blocking strictly necessary items may, however, prevent some features from working, notably remembering your choice.
7. What happens if I decline?
The website remains fully usable: you can browse it, use the AI diagnostic, contact us or apply to the expert network. Declining only prevents Google Analytics audience measurement. Your refusal is stored in walvis_consent for 6 months.
8. Forms and personal data
The website forms (AI diagnostic, contact, expert network application) do not rely on cookies but on the data you enter. These processing activities, including the separate consents, email double opt-in, retention periods, processors and transfers, are described in our privacy policy.
9. Your rights
You have the right of access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection and withdrawal of consent. To exercise them, write to: dpo@walvis.ch.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC, or PFPDT) in Switzerland, or with an EU supervisory authority, such as the CNIL in France.
10. Changes
We may update this policy, for example if we add a new tool. The version in force is always the one published on this page. In case of a significant change, we will ask for your consent again if necessary.
